چکیده

MATERIAL Fifty-eight adults were reviewed in whom the radial head had been excised, either for comminuted or severely depressed marginal fractures (forty-six cases), or after fracturedislocations of the elbow (twelve cases). The average follow-up was seven and a half years. There were thirty-two men and twenty-six women, and, as in other reported series, the highest incidence was between thirty and fifty years of age. Because the population of the Oxford area is a moving one, follow-up was impossible in many instances, and of all the cases suitable for study only 58 per cent were available. Consequently this is a heterogeneous series and it is not permissible to draw any statistical conclusions. This review deals only with patients who were operated upon for radial head fracture within four weeks ofinjury and patients with fractures of the shafts of the forearm bones have not been included. Our records do not reveal a case in which fracture-dislocation of the head ofthe radius was combined with inferior radio-ulnar dislocation as described by Curr and Coe (1946) and Essex-Lopresti (1950). Antero-posterior and lateral radiographs at the extremes of rotation were taken of the affected elbow in fullest extension and in right-angled fiexion. Comparative radiographs of the normal and the affected wrists were taken in maximum pronation with the arm adducted to the trunk and the elbow at right-angled flexion in order to prevent deceptive rotation at the shoulder. Osteoarticular allograft reconstruction of the distal radius after giant cell tumor resection

Abstract  Background: Resection of the distal end of the radius is indicated in the treatment  of locally aggressive primary benign and malignant bone tumors. The aim of this study  was to evaluate the technique of osteoarticular allograft reconstruction of the distal radius after wide excision of a giant-cell tumor.  Methods: We analyzed 15 patients retrospectively who had reconstruction of t...

Normal Age-Related Alterations on Distal Radius Radiography

Background: The present study was designed to ascertain serial changes on distal radius radiographic parameters attributable to aging.       Methods: In this prospective study, the sample consisted of 120 healthy individuals who were divided into four age groups each containing 15 males and 15 females. In the two below-20-year-old groups, only ulnar variance could be investigated. Wrist radio...

Radio-ulnar dislocation-translocation in children:report of two cases

this is a report of 2 very rare cases of Radio-ulnar dislocation-translocation in children from Kerman SHahid Bahonar haspital.this type of dislocation is very rare and only ten have been reported in the literature including  our report of two cases.in this type of dislocation the location of proximal ends of radius & ulna are altered,so that the capitellum articulates with the olecranon and...

Simultaneous dislocation of the radial head and distal radio-ulnar joint. A case report

Isolated dislocation of the distal radio-ulnar joint and isolated dislocation of the radial head in adults are not common injuries. A simultaneous dislocation of the radial head and distal radio-ulnar joint with no other injury seems to be extremely rare since only one report was found in the English literature. A similar case, but with some differences in presentation and treatment is reported.

Wireless sensor network design through genetic algorithm

In this paper, we study WSN design, as a multi-objective optimization problem using GA technique. We study the effects of GA parameters including population size, selection and crossover method and mutation probability on the design. Choosing suitable parameters is a trade-off between different network criteria and characteristics. Type of deployment, effect of network size, radio communication...
